Holy Week… it’s coming.

Standing on the edge of Holy Week I’m encouraged!
We have already seen people coming in to church over the past weeks looking to see what Christianity is all about….and this week we’ve had hundreds of school children and their teachers walking through the building asking profound questions as they reflect the Cross.

So in the busyness of school holidays, family and work commitments next week DON’T miss the moment to STOP and sit with the message of the Cross & Resurrection of Jesus. C.S Lewis reminds us,

"The resurrection of Christ is the central event of the world’s history—the hinge on which the whole story of human life turns."

On Saturday this weekend we have our family trail where you can spend time with your children talking through the moments that defined Jesus’s last week. We still need a few more hands to help, could you make this an opportunity to emerse yourself in the Easter Story? Email Jo Foster if you can help.

If you can’t make this event then carve out some time to watch an Easter film together as a family or have a ‘last supper’ together and read the children’s Bible accounts of the Passover.

For older children and us adults what about watching The Chosen over the evenings next week. Or read the Lectio365 together as a family over supper, You Version has some gerat content for families too.

Do you have Easter readings you can start for this week yourself?

What are you going to do personally or with friends and family to mark this week?

On Maundy Thursday I’m going to lead a guided communion in the auditorium using the Maundy Thursday Celtic Daily Prayer content, come an join us as we explore the moment where Jesus washed his disciples feet as an act of servent leadership. We’ll meet from 12 to 12:30pm and then you are welcome to stay and bring your sandwiches to chat and eat together.

On Good Friday the Young Adult community and our Kerith Worship team have partnered to create a powerful meeting around the events of the last week of Jesus’s life. Join us from 7-8:30pm, epecially a good meeting for those seeking faith and wanting to understand the Easter message. If you feel your faith is running on empty this meeting is an especially important moment for you this Easter.

Good Friday night is our new Kerith Bracknell tradition of a half night of prayer. from 9-midnight. We’ll roll off the back of worship into a time interceding for our World our town and ourselves.
There’s nothing better than going deeper in prayer during this most powerful of moments- as the world held its breath, between the death and resurrection!

Then on Easter Day we choose to join together - the family of the church, the reason Jesus went to the Cross!
We worship the God who gave up His one and only Son so that we could live!
Join us for an hour as we sing, listen to a message from Ben Oliver and cheer those taking their step of baptism! It’s going to be a brillinat morning- make sure to book your seat via this link for the 9:30am or 11:30 meetings.

Let me know what you have done to LEAN IN to Holy Week! I’d love to hear.

Beccy Oliver (Site Pastor)
