Growing Together: Strengthening Children’s and Youth Ministry on the Isle of Wight
Great news! Our Isle of Wight site will be launching dedicated kids’ groups three Sundays out of four starting in June 2026.
This is a significant step forward for us as a site as we continue to grow and strengthen our engagement with children and families. It has only been made possible through an incredible team of volunteers who are passionate about helping the next generation encounter Jesus and build a lasting faith of their own.
At the moment, our teenagers gather for a dedicated youth session one Sunday out of every four. In the future, we would love to increase the frequency of these gatherings as our volunteer team grows. That said, we also deeply value having young people in the main adult gathering. We hope our Sunday services feel accessible, engaging, and relevant to them, while also giving them opportunities to be part of the wider church community.
Research consistently shows that one of the most important factors in children and young people remaining connected to church later in life is having meaningful relationships with trusted adults outside of their immediate family. That’s why our kids’ and youth volunteers play such a vital role. They are not simply filling positions on a rota — they are investing in lives, building community, modelling faith, and helping create foundations that can have lasting spiritual impact for years to come.
We want our Sunday gatherings to be places where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and like they truly belong. At the same time, we recognise the importance of creating age-appropriate environments where children, young people, and adults can each encounter God in ways that connect meaningfully with their stage of life.
If you would be interested in getting involved with the kids’ or youth team — even if you would like to find out more or try it out with no pressure or long-term commitment — we would love to chat with you. Please speak to the site pastor or the assistant site pastor to express your interest.
