Our Schools Work

Engaging activities for children in primary school

At Kerith Bracknell, we have a heart for schools: the children who attend them and the staff who work in them. We are aware of the statistics which show that 95% of under-18s don’t go to church and we long to reach them with the gospel.

We have a team of people who regularly meet to pray for schools and teachers. We are involved in activities in which we go into schools and we also welcome school children into our building.

Prayer Spaces

For the past two years, our team has been setting up Prayer Spaces in local primary schools. These spaces, part of the 24/7 Prayer Movement, offer children creative, age-appropriate activities to explore prayer and personal reflection.

Through multi-sensory stations, children can connect with God, reflect on their emotions, and pray for themselves, others, and global issues. We’ve enjoyed designing themed, engaging environments for children from Reception to Year 6. Prayer Spaces have been well-received, and schools now plan for us to be included in their annual timetables.

What Children Are Saying About The Prayer Spaces

‘I loved the tents because of the little lights that you could touch, and they made me feel peaceful’

'Thank you for teaching me how to deal with my emotions and help me deal with my worries.'

‘It was calm, there was not a lot of noise, I could focus.’

What Teachers Are Saying About The Prayer Spaces

‘It was lovely to see, as well, how you guided the children so that they got the best out of the sessions. I was speaking with some teachers and they all agreed how peaceful and relaxing it felt. A governor said to me that her son went home talking about the workshop and explaining all the different activities that he was able to engage in.’

— Jennets Park  Headteacher

‘At Our SIAMS/church inspection, the children and adults spoke a lot about the Thinking/reflection/prayer space experience – it has made an impact on them!’

— Binfield Head Teacher

Assemblies

In our developing relationships with local headteachers and their schools, we are thrilled to be asked to lead and assist in leading assemblies and times of Collective Worship.

These assemblies have sometimes been led alongside colleagues from other organisations, in particular using a resource called ‘Space Makers’ which was developed by the Oxford Diocese for use in Church of England schools.

We feel that leading assemblies is a really positive way in which we can support the schools in teaching about faith and the Bible.

If you are associated with a school in Bracknell and are interested in our team coming to your school to lead assemblies, please contact us via the form at the bottom of this page.

Christmas in a Box

A new venture for our schools’ team for Christmas 2025; we are going to be taking the Nativity story into classrooms-initially Year 3 classes, with high-quality artefacts which are unpacked from a set of boxes; hence ‘Christmas in a box’.

Telling the story of Jesus’ birth through focusing on the characters of Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and the wise men, this will provide an opportunity for those children to learn what Christmas is really about from the Bible itself. For more information, please contact us via the form at the bottom of this page.

In 2025, we welcomed local school children to an interactive Easter trail at the Kerith Centre, guiding them through six stations that explored key events of Jesus’ final week—from Palm Sunday to the empty tomb.

At each stop, children paused to reflect and gathered mementoes and thoughts, which were compiled into a small takeaway book. Feedback from the experience was very positive.

We plan to run the trail again in Easter 2026.

If you would like to help on the team or if you're a school interested in taking part, please contact us via the form at the bottom of this page.

Year 6 Transition Workshops

For the past few years, our children’s pastor, Jo Foster, has led Transition Workshops for Year 6 students in local schools during the summer term.

With support from older students and adults, the workshops help children prepare for the move to secondary school through fun activities, stories, interviews, and take-home resources. They offer a safe space to reflect on primary school and talk about any worries.
