Sparklers Toddler Group: A Quiet Revival in Bracknell

Amazing things have been happening in K2 this term on Monday mornings at the Sparklers toddler group, which has been running for 35 years. Yes—35 years of incredible provision and outreach to countless families and children. What a legacy!

What Is Sparklers?

Outreach. That’s the heart of it. Sparklers is all about showing love to parents and carers from all walks of life across Bracknell. Each week, they bring their toddlers for:

  • 1 hour of play

  • 30 minutes of stories about Jesus, with music, singing, dancing, craft, and puppets

We’re full to capacity every week—around 100 people! The “toddler talk” statistics are astonishing and show that the Quiet Revival isn’t just happening among 16–24-year-old males, but also among under-5s and their carers. What a gift this is to the church!

What Do People Say?

People love coming to Sparklers because it’s:

  • Fun

  • Well-organised

  • Friendly

  • “Like going to a party!”

They enjoy:

  • Great craft activities

  • Engaging stories

  • Lively singing and dancing

But more than that, they say:

  • “It feels special.”

  • “There’s a particular atmosphere…”
(Which we, as Christians, recognise as the Holy Spirit hovering and brooding in that place.)

More and more people have been asking for prayer—and receiving answers.

What’s New?

We’re planning a slight shift in focus because we want to invest more in our grown-ups. Here’s what we’re introducing:

  • A short 2-minute devotional from one of the team, sharing what God has done in their life

  • Printed Bible verses for parents and carers to take home

Most of our toddlers are now under 3 years old. With government funding, more 2–4-year-olds attend nursery during the week so parents can work to meet rising costs. That means we have a very short window to shine our light.

What’s Next?

We’ve recently lost several key members of the Sparklers team and are in desperate  need of help to continue running Sparklers next term.

What Do We Need?

We want to continue this excellent work in the community—but to do that, we need YOU to consider joining our team. And you don’t even have to love playing with toddlers to help! There are many ways to get involved.

Roles include:

  • Help with setting up the space in K2 with toys (from 8:00–9:00am on Mondays)
Ideal for those who don’t work Mondays or are retired

  • Welcoming and checking in mums, dads, carers, and toddlers

  • Preparing and serving drinks and biscuits in the kitchen

  • Helping prepare and manage the craft table

  • Running the sound desk during the morning

  • Telling stories and engaging the toddlers in singing and dancing

  • Tidying up and preparing for Baby Sparks (which happens straight after Sparklers and is for parents and carers with their babies)

  • Chatting with carers over tea and offering prayer

  • Sharing a short testimony of God’s goodness in your life

Most roles can be limited to a maximum of an hour. We are praying you into this harvest field. We know God’s heart is for this age group, and we want to continue sowing seeds into their lives.

A larger team means you wouldn’t need to serve every week—giving you the freedom to travel or rest, especially if you’re retired.

Will You Join Us?

Please prayerfully consider where and how you can help ensure this toddler ministry continues for the next 35 years.

Register your interest below, and Jackie Faerber and the team will chat with you to see how you’d like to get involved.
