Building Project Tithing
As a church we believe in the principle of tithing, giving away portion of what God has blessed us with, and we are doing the same through our Kerith Farnborough building project. When working through the estimated costs for our building renovation, we budgeted that 10% of the total cost for our project will be given away to other worthy local, national and global causes.
We didn't want the decision for who we bless with finances to sit with just our Kerith leadership team. So, we've recently formed a tithe committee, headed up by Malcolm Pearcy and including other representatives from the congregation in Farnborough. The group is now in a position to invite proposals from people in our community in who we will bless with this money. The committee will prayerfully consider the proposals that come in from across our congregation, and we can begin giving away tithe money as we raise funds - giving away in faith that God will provide for us, and in turn blessing others as we go!
It's not a one time thing, as our project is ongoing and we currently have some funds to give - we haven’t yet raised the total amount! At any point over the course of the project you can complete a form if you would like to apply on behalf of a charity or cause that is close to your heart. You can do that HERE. The criteria for applications and all you should need to know at this stage is included on the form.
Over the course of the project we plan to split the tithe money equally across local, national and global charities. In fact we have already blessed some charities since the project began - you can read about how we blessed a global charity on this older blog post.
We serve a generous God and in wanting to be more like Him, we want to increase in our own generosity, praying and believing that God will do great things with what we bring as He multiplies it!
Thank you for being on this exciting journey of faith with us.
