“I say YES”…to our CAP Ministry team
If you call Kerith your home and you aren’t already serving - would you join us on the journey? Over the summer we will be spotlighting different ministry teams so you can be praying which one to join. Of course even if you’re in a team already, please do take a read of these blogs, as it’s so encouraging to hear what God is doing. You’ll also hear the vision our ministry leaders have to help people find their way back to God through communities growing in their love for God and love for people (for those newer to Kerith - that’s our vision statement as a church!) Read on to learn from Ken Evans about our CAP (Christians Against Poverty) Team.
What stirs your heart and makes you think; ‘This needs to change’? For the Revive CAP Debt Centre team and the debt advisors at our Bradford support hub, and thousands of supporters, it’s the realities faced by those we serve.
In our 2025 client survey, 59% of people said they had to borrow money to pay for their regular food shop, and 49% had considered or attempted suicide as a way out of debt before seeking help.
These numbers aren’t just meant to shock us; they should move us into action. Boldness isn’t just about feeling, it’s about doing. It’s about refusing to accept the status quo. Being bold isn’t about feeling fearless, but stepping forward in faith during uncertain times. As Christians, true boldness doesn’t come from our own strength, but by standing uncompromisingly on our faith and following God into the darkest times, knowing that he’s guiding and equipping us along the way.
Take a moment to reflect on the statistics above.
Now, ask yourself: what can you do to help make a positive change?
Where is God leading you to demonstrate boldness in the face of injustice?
Pray and ask God to guide you towards one action you can take this week to challenge the status quo. That may be to join our CAP ministry team at Kerith Farnborough, we need befrienders to get alongside clients as they journey to a debt free life. Last year 17 clients across Kerith Community Church were helped to be debt free, and 2 people gave their lives to Jesus! This ministry team is having a real impact.
