I say ‘YES’…to the Production Team

If you call Kerith your home and you aren’t already serving - would you join us on the journey? Over the last few months we have been spotlighting different ministry teams so you can be praying which one to join - and this is the last blog in the series! Of course even if you’re in a team already, please do take a read, as it’s so encouraging to hear what God is doing. You’ll also hear the vision our ministry leaders have to help people find their way back to God through communities growing in their love for God and love for people (for those newer to Kerith - that’s our vision statement as a church!) Paul Reed, our volunteer Production Lead in Farnborough, writes about what it means to be part of our amazing Production Team.

“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people.”

Ephesians 6:7

Sitting at the back of the room on a Sunday you’ll spot a quiet, almost invisible team - the Production Team. Surprisingly most of us had never done this before and were coached & guided by more experienced members of the team.

I find it awesome to see everyone meeting with God in worship, hearing a word be shared or listening intently to a preach and know that we’ve helped in a small way with that connection.

It doesn’t matter your age or experience, we will always welcome you. Also if you’re like me and more introverted and the idea of serving on more ‘people facing’ teams is too much, then you can still be part of making Sundays possible as part of this team at the back of the room.

The roles we have in Production include:

  • Podcast editor – it sounds fancy but isn’t. This is something that can be completed from home in an hour on a Sunday afternoon / Monday, with your own PC / internet connection and straight forward. Taking that weeks preach, editing it and posting it on our website so that anyone who missed it or wants to listen again can do so.

  • PC – If you can navigate the internet then running the PC is straight forward. On a Sunday this is how the words during worship get shown and changed, clicking to start an update video or sharing the slides to support a preach. All the complicated stuff is done by the weekday team so a Thursday evening rehearsal is the chance to get familiar with that Sundays running order and practice before an 8:30am start on a Sunday Morning.

  • Sound desk – This takes a little more practice but if you have an ear for music & worship then we can help you get up to speed. Balancing the different instruments to make a joyful sound and hearing the worship singers leading everyone or adjusting the volume, so everyone can clearly hear the preach.

If you’d like to learn more, feel free to stop by the production desk at the back of the room to have a chat, or fill out an interest form here.
