Week of Prayer & Fasting - 12-18th October
From Monday 12th October to Sunday 18th October we are holding another Week of Prayer and Fasting as a church.
In the Old Testament God spoke through the prophet Jeremiah and said “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:12-13). This passage is true everyday, and is certainly true for a week like we are heading into, as we put aside some of our routines and rhythms to lean into rhythms of prayer, worship and fasting. For this week we will be focusing our attention and prayers on the first 5 chapters of the book of Joshua.
We want to help us all engage with this important week, so here is how you can take part…
A downloadable Prayer Guide for the week, including a focus Scripture for each day and prayer prompts and questions.
Daily opportunities to pray with others, such as our midweek prayercast on facebook from 6:45-7am, as well as on Monday to Thursday an evening online prayer meeting open for people from all the Kerith sites to join and pray together.
We’ll also be sharing prayer points and guidance on our social media feeds, as well as releasing a daily devotional via Simon Benham’s blog – so make sure you follow us on socials, and subscribe to Simon’s blog before the week begins.
For those wanting to fast you’ll find a helpful and practical guidance around fasting so whether you have done it before or not, the support is there.
And make sure you mark in your calendars the 17th and 18th October for the ‘One Body Worship’ event. From lunchtime on Saturday 17th until 12pm on Sunday 18th churches across the island are hosting a 24 hour continuous prayer and worship time. Across the day and night we’ll be gathering to meet with God together. Kerith will be leading the 4-5pm slot on Saturday, so we’d love to particularly see you there at that time - but why not schedule in certain other times across the 24 hour period that you can take part? Our friends at True Vine Church in Newport are hosting this, we’ll see you there.
