Our Heart for Christmas initiative ❤️
Over recent years at Kerith we have asked us all to buy shop vouchers to help financially support the clients we work with through our Revive Ministries across the life of the church. This has been fantastic and we have been blown away by our church’s love and generosity. This year we’d like to do something a little different. Thanks to your generosity we have our Cost of Living Crisis Fund where we are able to financially support those in need – so this Christmas , tying in with our James the Just series, it’s about every one of us in Kerith (young and old) to be an advocate and expression of the love of Jesus through our ‘Heart of Christmas’ campaign.
Between now and 21st December we want everyone to do something this year to love, serve and meet the need of someone in your life. That may be a colleague, a neighbour, a family or individual you know who may be in need. In fact, it may even be a complete stranger that you decide you are going to help or bless in some way.
How can you do this? This may be in the way of taking somebody who is isolated or alone out for coffee one afternoon; inviting neighbours over to your house, or doing a food shop for somebody in need. It may mean giving lifts to someone without a car; litter picking, delivering a food parcel or meal to a new parent; mowing somebody’s lawn, or writing a card of encouragement to somebody who is struggling. Maybe God will highlight an injustice he wants you to speak up against or it could simply be helping a stranger by paying for the coffee of the person behind you in the queue.
We want us all to be aware that we can bring love, and justice to the world around us in small ways, and it doesn’t need a lot of money, just time and a heart to serve. All you need to do is pray, listen to what you sense God is saying, decide what you’d like to do & then go and do it! Once you’ve completed an act of kindness we’d love for you to collect a heart from the Christmas table & pop it up on the display.
At the end of the series, we’ll look at the impact we’ve been able to make in countless lives in our communities.
We always love to hear stories and testimonies, there is no pressure but, if you’d like to share with us the impact it’s had on you or the person you’ve helped we’d love to hear about it – you can let us know by anonymously completing the card by the tree and popping it in the box. We’d love to celebrate the impact of how powerful acts of love can be.
You have until Sun 21st December to complete your act – when we’ll take a moment in our meetings to share the impact of kindness this season, and pray for all those lives we have touched.
Whether you are young or old, let’s all be involved with this great project. For those under 11yrs old, you’ll be able to claim our ‘Superstar’ badge for helping someone. If you complete an act of kindness, tell your kids lead - we’d love to celebrate you by presenting you with your badge!
