We’re Hiring!
📢 We're Hiring – CAP Debt Coach (Bracknell)
In the Christians Against Poverty 2025 client survey, 59% of people said they had to borrow money to pay for their regular food shop, and 49% had considered or attempted suicide as a way out of debt before seeking help.*
These numbers aren’t just meant to shock us; they should move us into action. Boldness isn’t just about feeling, it’s about doing. It’s about refusing to accept the status quo.
Take a moment to reflect on the statistics above. Now, ask yourself: what can you do to help make a positive change?
Where is God leading you to demonstrate boldness in the face of injustice?
At Bracknell we have 2 opportunities in our Debt counselling team this term:

2. CAP Befriender (Volunteer a few hours a month)
A CAP Befriender's role involves offering emotional and social support to a client who is working with the Bracknell CAP Centre,.You would be accompanying Debt Coaches on visits, helping clients find social connections, providing practical assistance, and offering encouragement and hope through friendship.
This voluntary role focuses on the client's social and psychological needs to combat isolation often experienced with debt, rather than any financial management advice, and requires a non-judgmental, compassionate attitude. You can help by-
- Facilitating bringing the client into community
- Identifying hobbies and possible points of social connection
- Introducing the client to church
- Providing assistance with practical tasks
- Sharing the gospel.
This role is client facing and would suit someone with great relationship-building skills, an open and completely non-judgmental nature, together with a heart and resilience to serve. The role is flexible with regards to what elements you will undertake, as we recognise that all services operate under a CAP model but in very different church environments. We want to equip and empower you to undertake the role in a way which best fits you and your community.
If you are interested in volunteering to become a CAP Befriender or finding out about other ways you could help, please contact kenevans@capuk.org
